be thou my vision

Be Thou My Vision Oh Lord, Make My Desires Match Yours

Be Thou My Vision

Having direction or a goal for life tends to accomplish more than just doing what feels good for the moment. What the Lord God Almighty tends to teach is having that goal be to gather up Heavenly treasures. But, how does one do that? What are Heavenly Treasures anyways? What I believe one needs in order to do this is to focus on God. Basically, asking Him to Be Thou My Vision.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! …

And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Mark 10:21

According to these verses if we concentrate on the carnal or fleshly desires they soon die away. The thing is it is so easy to want what feels good and comfortable. We want our loved ones to be happy and safe. But do we and those around us grow in comfort? What sort of life choices do we need to make to build heavenly treasures?

Be Thou My Vision

In order to know how to make the right life choices one needs to get to know the Lord God Almighty. In order to do that we need to read His Word for us, The Bible and to pray continually. He wants a relationship with us and uses the Holy Spirit to guide us to want His desires not earthly desires. When we start wanting same things He does God is faithful in giving us what we want.

Some of the things that I have learned that are God’s desires is that all would go to Heaven. But how does one get into Heaven? By believing in Jesus. That is all it takes. But, I have not met anyone that comes to believe in Jesus without hearing about Him. My life is a testimony that people can see and hear about Him through. By letting others hear me talk about how He saved and provided where no else could. Then when someone believes in Christ I think this is how we build our treasures in Heaven.

Be Thou My Vision

be thou my vision
a painting of a cracked jar with jewels in it and writing above it says but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of power may be of God and not of us.

Something else we can do to build our treasure in Heaven is to practice every day faith. But what is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 New Living Translation (NLT)
Great Examples of Faith
11 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

But, what do we hope for? If we are to build our treasures in Heaven, does it not reason that we should hope for what God hopes for? How do we figure out what God hopes for? Once again we come back to reading the Bible and praying. Building up that relationship He so desires to have with us. As we get to know Him, He shapes our desires. Then He will grant them. When we become more like Him we will get to know a peace joy hope love that is beyond what this world could know.

So, as LisConnect writes in her article, “Why We Do What We Do.” Our motivation should be Heavenly Desire motivation behind all our life choices.
