How much longer Lord will this suffering of mine last?

How much longer Lord?

I’ve been through seasons in my life where I’ve asked the Lord, “how much longer, Lord?” I was at my ends meet with a few issues, and while I was studying for one of my Bible Studies, the Lord, brought these few verses to me:

2 Corinthians 4:15-18 All of this is for your benefit. And God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up, though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever. So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen For the things we cannot see will last forever.

how much longer Lord

This verse reminded me that I won’t be sick forever, and somehow God will use this for His good, even though I can’t see it right now. See sometimes when we’re not feeling good, we forget whose in charge and forget to look to God instead of to our mountain.

Just like this verse said, my troubles won’t last forever, even though it may seem like it. This is why it’s so important to look to God’s Word, so He can remind you of things like this; as He did for me.

Beyond Suffering Bible

I’ve had this Bible for a few years now, and it has brought me hope, peace, and comfort when I’m needing it. Here’s what this devotion in this Bible says about these verses:

how much longer Lord

Never give up. We can be encouraged by remembering that our troubles are temporary. God renews our Spirits each day with fresh mercies (Lam 3:23) Our troubles are opportunities for God to reveal His glory. Keeping our eyes focused on things that are eternal can help us live more fruitfully with pain and suffering. We can be strengthened by the power of the resurrection living within us.

I loved that! Even though we learn through our suffering and grow closer to God, at that very moment I’m sure most of us think, “Lord, pick someone else, not me!” Been there done that. As much as it is though, if we hadn’t gone through what we have, we wouldn’t have become who we are today. God has to grab our hearts in different ways.

how much longer Lord

What if we started praying: “Lord grab a hold of my heart today. Do whatever it takes for me and my loved ones to draw closer to you each day. Help me to become more like Christ in my words and actions.”

As I close, I really want to encourage you to draw near to your creator. As you do, He will draw near to you, and encourage your heart for what you’re needing for today. He’ll also prepare you for the battle for when something or someone tries to attack you. Always remember though, the Battle is the Lord’s not yours, even though it seems like it!

Please don’t feel like you have to go through life alone. I am always here for you. I can be found here.

May the Lord bless and keep you!
