I Can't Do Anything

I Can’t Do Anything Lord, Why Do You Even Ask Me To

I Can’t Do Anything

Stopping Asking Me To Lord

This chapter in Exodus begins with God talking to Moses stating that Moses will see how God delivers the Israelite’s from Pharaohs grips. The Lord states He has heard their cry under their taskmasters hands and He remembers His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. His promises of giving them many descendants and bringing them out of Egypt to the land of promise. Thing is, God is telling Moses to speak for Him to Pharaoh. Moses ran from the Pharaoh that wanted to kill him because Moses killed an Egyptian task master. On top of it, Moses felt he could not speak well enough to talk to the new Pharaoh. At the end of the chapter Moses argues with God about not being able to do what the Lord is asking him to do.

Have you ever felt lead to do something by the Holy Spirit but thought, “Who Me? Not Me? I Can’t!” But, how many times do we see in the Bible God equips the weak to do what He tells them to? Let me list some verses about this:

27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world,[a] things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29 New Living Translation (NLT)

I Can’t Do Anything

He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:29-31 New Living Translation (NLT)

I Can’t Do Anything

16 I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them, yes—feed them justice!

Ezekiel 34:16 New Living Translation (NLT)
I Can't Do Anything
Well done my good and faithful servant. To those who use well what they are given even more will be given and they will have an abundance.

From what I see here God blesses, and helps those who are weak, and incapable. According to Ezekiel He will even search for the ones the world casts away. Just when you think I can’t do anything, God comes along with His strength and gives you a way to do what He needs you to do. What a great and mighty God we serve! I know I would not want to be among the “fat and powerful” that He says will be destroyed by the Justice God deals out.

What about you? Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone and do as the Holy Spirit is leading you? Acknowledging the whole time that is God in you that makes things happen? God can do wonders in you, as you open yourself up to His power, and strength to do the impossible. Do you want that peace and joy as you cooperate with Jesus? I know I do.
