Make Disciples Of All Nations And Spread The Good News

Make Disciples Of All Nations

I read a blog this morning by Michael Wilson talking about how we are commanded to “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to all creation.” ~Jesus, he talked about how the word gospel is overused. I tend to agree with him on that point. But this brought to mind the fact that Jesus also commanded us to make disciples. Are these two things the same? Or, could they be steps in bringing people to Jesus?

And He said to the disciples, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.“ |

Mark 16:15-16

19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19 New Living Translation (NLT)

Make Disciples Of All Nations

I see these two commands as a progression. One cannot help a person develop into a disciple of Jesus until the said person believed in the Good News. But, the question arises how do we do these steps. I think the answer to this question is as individual and unique as each person is here on Earth.

God made each of us with our own unique talents, thoughts, ideas, experiences. He relates to us in our own individual way. He knows what each of us can do and He equips us to do that even beyond what we think we can do. He matches us up with individuals that can relate to what God has to share through us. So, with this being said, what is our part in this all?

Our part I believe is to be willing vessels for God. To work with Him, for Him. To open our hearts and minds to Him and His shaping us. To study His word, to pray to Him. Prayer I mean just have a conversation with your Friend, Advocate, Father, Brother, Counselor. He loves you and wants to talk to you. Pray for others always asking God to work through you to help others. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone in order for God to lead you and change you.

How willing are you to do this for the Lord? I know for myself I am still a work in progress. My pain, my anxiety I let get in the way of serving the Lord beyond the internet. It hurts a lot for me to walk, as I get older it gets more painful. But, I am giving in to my pain, I have for years. I am not trusting God can take this pain from me. Or, could this pain be my thorn in the flesh as my online presence is growing? I guess I need to pray more about this.

So, what about you? What is holding you back from obeying God in these commands? What could you need help to pray about?
