Oceans Where Feet May Fail

“Oceans Where Feet May Fail” by Hillsong United, expresses the feeling of being with God whenever he walked on the water. How exactly does it go into walking with God on the water? If you look into the depth of what the bible says about it, we would see in Matthew 14 verses 22-33, where the song lyrics are coming from.

Verse 1 of the song states “You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand”

What these verses are saying is that Jesus calls us out upon the water. We see this in Matthew 14: 28-29 which states, “

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come,” he said.”

Jesus called Peter out on to the water. I envision the walking out on the water of trying something new. I often get to try something new. But we often don’t think we are trying something new. Now trying something new could be trying new food, trying a new job, or anything else. We will always try something new even if we don’t realize it.

Whatever it is we will always have to try something new. Whenever writing this blog for Katiedash I didn’t know what to write about but I believe that God called to write this because earlier whenever I was writing this I did a Song Reflection on “King of Heaven” by Paul Baloche.

The chorus goes:

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Peter called upon Jesus’ name whenever he was in his trouble. If we continue reading the bible verse we see that Peter called upon Jesus for rescue.

Oceans Where Feet May Fail
a rolling ocean

We read this is Matthew 14:30 which states “30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Even Peter one of Jesus’ closest disciples called upon Jesus, so we also need to call upon Jesus in our times of help.

Looking at the bridge in-depth we can see which bible verses go with the Bridge.

The verses that go with the bridge will be right next to the lyrics.

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders (Matthew 4:1John 14:16-17John 16:13Romans 8:14Galatians 5:16-18)
Let me walk upon the waters (Matthew 14:28)
Wherever You would call me (Genesis 12:11 Corinthians 7:17)
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander (Exodus 14:21-22Ezekiel 47:1-9)
And my faith will be made stronger (Romans 4:19-20)
In the presence of my Savior

Oceans Where Feet May Fail

My thoughts

So will Jesus call you out on the water?? Has he already called you out on the water?? Will he ever call you out on the water??

I honestly don’t know. But what I do know is that all of us has been called out upon the waters before, whether it is a new decision, a new religion, a new job.

Oceans Where Feet May Fail

scripture

We all do know that Jesus will call us out upon the waters in one way. I absolutely love what Jeremiah writes in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”

That verse is a reassuring us that God has set out a plan for us long before we were born. So whatever you are going through just know that it is for good to come. God know’s what you are going through.

As I end off, we have left the one question that I bet everyone is asking right now, Has God called me out upon the waters?

  1. I really appreciate your comment! That is so awesome to hear! That is nice to hear that you had Alexa play the song. At least it wasn’t Pastor Craig ordering food from your Alexa.

  2. I love, love, love this song! In some ways, I think, at least for me, every day is being called upon the waters, waters of the unknown for each day. Because each day is new and different. I hope this makes sense. I asked Alexa to play this song for me right now.

    1. Thanks so Much Nikki for commenting on it. Hopefully Alexa didn’t order anymore food from “How Sweet The Sound” whenever Pastor was speaking about Alexa.

Would love to hear your thoughts!
