Something Missing In Our Worship

“Incomplete picture”

Something Missing Here

Our picture of worship is going to be incomplete this side of Heaven. It is still important and still worth looking at, but it is also incomplete, so that needs to be acknowledged. No worship leader, no worship planner, and no worship participant has the full picture of Who it is we are worshiping or exactly what is the “perfect” way to honor God.Because we “see through a glass dimly” (1 Cor. 13:6), we will not be able to fully describe or participate in worship – but because God is worthy of worship, we will pursue pure passionate worship. He deserves that much.

Something Missing

Each week I am going to focus on at least one scripture, one song and one truth. This week I want to focus on Ps. 100:4, which says  “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.”

The song is a chorus that Karen and I do to lead people into worship when we share our ministry in churches. “I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart. I will enter His courts with praise. I will say ‘this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice for He has made me glad. He has made me glad. He has made me glad. I will rejoice for He has made me glad …”

Something  missing

Worship starts with being thankful for what we have – food, clothes, shelter, protection, peace, security, hope, eternal life, Jesus, and so much more. We have everything we need in body, mind, and spirit, and we have it for eternity, thanks to the blood of Jesus. When we realize what we have been given, we worship the One who is our Father, our provider, the one true God. We worship the Lord in the beauty of His holiness. (Ps. 29:2)

Until next time, may God keep us safe in the palm of His hand and make us thankful.
