Waiting on the Lord

Waiting on the Lord is hard, but it can be done. But how?

Waiting on the Lord

These last few days I’ve been having trouble waiting on the Lord for certain things, as I’m sure many of you do. It’s just part of being inpatient. I have a bad habit of doing to many things at one time, and I’ve been reminded by my friends it’s not good to do, because I just become overwhelmed. Which is true. It hits home with me when my anxiety starts kicking in. When I was praying about what to blog about the Lord spoke to me and said type in courage in YouTube. So I did, and this song came up. He reminded me to slow down my pace and to remember that it’s waiting on the Lord to bring His glory in my life, not in my own.

When we don’t wait

I believe that when we don’t wait on the Lord’s timing it can be dangerous. How? Because we get into things that we’re not supposed to and we regret it later. Learn from the pro who has been there done that plenty! When we learn to wait on the Lord and slow down, that’s when we can learn to listen to the Lord, through reading the Word, and prayer. Plus when we listen and wait long enough, like this song says the Lord is in the waiting. Learn to talk to yourself as you would a good friend, or even talk to your soul. Remind it whose in control in your life. It’s not your flesh, but it’s the Holy Spirit that’s living within you. Phil 4:13 reminds us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Remind yourself of Bible verses when you feel stressed out, or want to do more.

How do you wait?

Here’s some tips that I’ve learned over the past few weeks that have helped.

  1. Tell it to the Lord, and tell Him your ideas, or why you can’t wait for that thing.
  2. Read the Word, and see what the Lord says to your spirit. Sometimes you may have patience or a new desire.
  3. You have some ideas, but deep down you know it’s nuts. Tell your friends, your idea. Especially to your one friend who you know will talk you out of it. (Even though it might take time.)
  4. Imagine yourself having or doing that project. How are you feeling? How are you feeling once you have that item in your hand, how long will it take till you get bored?
  5. Will it give you everlasting joy? (Even though deep down you know only the Lord can.)

Closing

Waiting on the Lord, can be tough, but if you put your complete trust in Him and do some of the steps I suggested, then I have faith that you can change. It might take some time. I’m talking to myself as well. Because oftentimes it’s in the waiting where the Lord speaks to you the most. He has emptied us all out and all we have left to do is wait. Am I not right? This is how our Heavenly Father gets our attention the most. Least for me anyways!

Lord, look inside our hearts. You see what needs to be worked on. May you help us in our time of waiting. I pray that you will speak to our hearts and help us to be patient while we wait on you to have your way in our lives. Thank you for being such a mighty and powerful God in our lives. You love us like no other and only want what is best for us. We give you all the Glory, Honor, and Praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I love praying and being there for others. You can find me at Christianebooks4you.   I’m also the author of Message of Hope 365 Days, that will uplift your soul during your time of waiting on the Lord.

May the Lord bless and keep you as you continue your journey with Him!
