what is heaven like
When we think of Heaven we think of good. I know we all yearn for good, peace, and comfort in our lives. Thing is we do not want to wait until we get to Heaven. We want it all now. But, this will not happen, not while we are in control.
what is heaven like?
God did not want robots, where we have no choice but to love and obey Him. He longed for us to choose to love Him. That is why we have our willpower. We have the power to choose Him and His blessings, His strength, and the reward of Heaven. Or, we can choose to deny Him, do things in our own power than sad to say go to Hell.
what is heaven like
We want things easy here on earth, we do not understand why all the pain. It appears that this life is everything. But the Bible says in
James 4:14 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring.
What is your life?
For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. But yet we will spend eternity in heaven, or in hell depending on if we chose to believe in God or not.
What I believe is our time here on earth is to prepare us for Heaven.
Don’t you find it true that it is hard to know just how good we have it until we lose something? Or in other words, until we suffer pain. The saying could fit with the thought of Heaven. We will never understand how good it is unless we experienced the pain on earth.
So, exactly what is heaven like?
The following I will be summarizing an article I found: What We Will Be Doing in Heaven
In Luke 24:43 Jesus says we will be joining Him in Paradise.
What does this Paradise look like?
Revelation 21:18 English Standard Version (ESV)18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
Revelation 21:21-25 English Standard Version (ESV)21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, 25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.
Revelation 21:1-5 English Standard Version (ESV)The New Heaven and the New Earth21 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b] and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
God in Heaven will have us doing…..
This all sounds so wonderful, I know for me it makes my suffering here on earth so worthwhile. But the question still stands what will we be doing in paradise?
Rev. 22:3 3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
Servants do not just sit around and sing praises. They worship their masters by doing things for them. We are God’s servants.
We may also be spending time learning about God.
Eph. 3:18-19 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you be filled with all the fullness of God.
We will never reach the fullness that is God, not even Angels know all about Him. So, I tend to think we will still be learning up there.
Who we know here on Earth that also believe in Christ we will know in there too:
Rev. 7:9 9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, …
We will still have relationships with them, fuller, richer and be able to enjoy each other.
We cannot fully fathom what it will be like What God has revealed to us is so minor compared to what it will be. We have small finite minds, God is so infinitely more than we could fully understand. He does say in
Matt. 25:34 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Just for believing in Christ we will inherit His Kingdom! This all gives me great hope! As I learn to surrender to the Lord so He can prepare me for eternity I am blessed to see others gain eternity through His testimony in me. Every day I pray that He filled me with His Holy Spirit to work through me so many can come to know Him. I pray this gives you some hope as you live through the circumstances on Earth.
