Where is your Focus?
Each day we have things that happen to us. Most things are out of our control, aren’t they? I wish I had control over every situation, but I know I don’t. This past weekend at church I was reminded that it’s not a matter of what happens to us, but a matter of where our focus is at! So if my focus is always on my problems and not on God, then I won’t see any results, because my focus is in the wrong place.
Where is your focus?
Whenever something bad happens or something that doesn’t work out what are your first thoughts that run in your head? Things like, “oh no this is never going to work, or “God has this, He’s in control?” Anything that we practice doing it becomes a habit. I believe one of the reasons why we’re used to negative talk so much is because we’ve been doing it almost all of our lives, and we’re listening to all the wrong things. It’s when we begin to shift our thinking and our focus onto the right things.
What have you been thinking and telling yourself lately about your situations in life? Are the lining up with the Word Of God? Are you praying scriptures over your situations? One of the things I do each day, is I begin with God and end with God. Let me break that down! In the mornings, I pray and read His Word, then at night I’ll do the same with maybe a worship song. If I end up falling asleep, that’s fine, He understands!
Where is your focus?
I want to challenge you to Focus on God all throughout the day as much as you can. One of my late friends, always said, when you don’t know what to say about a situation, or something bad happens, to say “Praise Jesus” over and over. What does that do? It changes your line of thinking onto God, and giving Him all the praise where Praise is given.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
