Yearning for Love to Fill Our Hunger

Yearning for Love to Fill Our Hunger

John 6: 35-40
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will
never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But
as I told you, you have seen me and still, you do not believe. All
those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I
will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my
will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of
him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me,
but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that
everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal
life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Yearning for Love to Fill Our Hunger?
Have you ever been hungry, you know craving something just to fill you?
Or maybe you have had an unquenchable thirst, that no matter how much
you drink, you can’t get enough?
I think we all have. Yet in this passage, Jesus says something kind of
cool. He says that if we are hungry, we can come to him, and he will
fill us. Not only for now, but also for eternity. He says if we
believe in him, that he will satisfy our thirst.

Now I get it, this sounds good, but what’s that even mean? And what if
we have belief, and have trusted in him, but still struggle. Something
still isn’t settled, and we still are hungering for more? More of what
we don’t even quite know, but we just want more?

I say we because I often find myself in this place. Yes, I do the
things required in life.  In the day to day of parenting, and
running a ministry. But when I lay my head back down at night, the
question comes, is what I’m doing enough? Or am I covering with
action, a longing for the one who created me? Am I so stuck on doing
for Him, that the being with Him gets lost in the shuffle?

Yearning for Love to Fill Our Hunger!
I know my answer, but what is yours? Do you take time daily just to be
with him, and let Him speak? And no, I don’t ask from a place of I
have this figured out because believe me, I do not. Do we let Him
have the place in our lives where He can be our all in all? Or are we
doing things, and replacing Him with other things? That at the end of
the day will leave us hungry, and even more thirsty?
And left unchecked, will these things turn in to an addiction or a
craving, that will bring us more harm than good?
And if we don’t have that time with God we have to ask ourselves why
not, what is getting in between us and our God?
I write this from a place of complete vulnerability I am not as good at
spending time with him, as I know I need to be. You may ask why, well
that answer is a topic for another article. In any case, my goal is
to let Him be my bread, and the one to quench my thirst.
I know He will when I go to be with Him forever, but He wants to do
this in the here and now.
I hope this was helpful for you if you have any questions, please
