You Are Perfectly Imperfect and God Loves You Just The Way You Are

You Are Perfectly Imperfect

I would like to offer this essay reading from a reading plan on YouVersion Bible App. It speaks to me about how we need not compare ourselves to others. Our life, our ways, our talents are perfect for what God has for us in our lives. We may not be able to do as much or as well as others. But, life is not a race, it is not about comparing ourselves against others to see who can do things better. Life is about living for the Lord and serving each other.

a cracked water pot laying on its side.

A water-bearer in India had two large pots, both hung on the ends of a pole, which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot always arrived half full. The poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water-bearer one day by the stream: ‘I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you. I have been able to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don’t get full value from your efforts.’ The bearer said to the pot, ‘Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side? That’s because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you’ve watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.’ Thankfully, God uses cracked pots! You do not need to be perfect for God to use you.

Bible in One Year

God Loves You! In our society we are taught to do better, be better, look better. While always growing and learning is a good thing. To be a better person in God’s eyes is different than what the world says. In God’s eyes when we embrace our flaws, learn to grow and live with them we are perfect. It is not letting what others say is best tell us how we are loved by God. But, letting God show us how He blesses others because of our flaws. You are perfectly imperfect and God loves you so much because of it! Go out into the world, into your family and bless others with your imperfections. Watch as God uses you to grow beautiful flowers around you. The joy and confidence He will build in you is beyond measure.

Use the tools God has given you to learn how to use your imperfections, now to master them. Let others comfort you, guide you, teach you. Read the Lord’s word and ask for His wisdom to master your talents and imperfections.
